| When the same file (or WWW page) is frequently requested
via Demon, the Demon proxy server "caches" (stores) a copy, so the file does not
have to be fetched from the remote location every time - rather like your own browser
"caching" pages and documents. This obviously speeds up download for you and conserves bandwidth for sites that are accessed often enough to be stored. To make use of this facility, your browser needs to know which server to access "by proxy" instead of going to the remote site directly. Find the menu for proxy server and enter the proxy for HTTP as www-cache.demon.co.uk and the port as 8080. In the "No Proxies" section enter demon.co.uk
and demon.net. For more information, see |
