4.   The World-Wide Web

4.1   Where can I find help on Web browsers?

If you don't already have a browser, or want to update to the latest version, you can obtain one via ftp or the WWW. In addition, many computer magazines frequently include browsers on their accompanying disks.

Microsoft Internet Explorer can be downloaded from http://www.microsoft.com/ie/. There is a Demon newsgroup for questions on Internet Explorer 4 (and subsequent versions): demon.ip.support.ie4.

The nearest download site for Netscape (available for a variety of platforms) is Imperial College: ftp://sunsite.doc.ic.ac.uk/sites/ftp.netscape.com/pub/communicator/  Other UK download sites (and more information) can be found by following the links from Netscape's home page: http://www.netscape.com

Another popular browser for Windows users is Opera: http://www.opera.com/

MSIE and Netscape are available without charge. Opera is not free, but an evaluation version is available.
