Surftime is a scheme operated by BT which can offer considerable savings on Internet calls to ISPs (such as Demon) that provide a Surftime number. It involves a fixed monthly payment to BT and is worth considering if you use the Internet a lot. For details see:

Arranging a monthly payment to BT for Surftime Evening and Weekends service will mean that your calls to Demon’s Surftime (g5) number at these times will receive a 100% discount from BT (i.e. they would be ‘free’).

Demon’s Surftime number can normally only be used in the evenings and at weekends. However, the Demon Premier Connect Plus account allows you to use the Demon Surftime number at any time. For this Demon charge £19.99 per month (instead of the £11.75 per month for a standard account) and it means that your Surftime calls would then be charged by BT at the rate of 1p per minute (daytime), 0.6p per minute (evenings) and 0.5p per minute (weekends) - although the minimum charge of 5p per call still applies.

If you opt for a Demon Premier Connect Plus account, you can also purchase the Surftime Evening and Weekends service from BT (described above) to enable your evening and weekend calls to be ‘free’.

If you require all of your Demon calls free, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, you will need a Demon Preminer Connect Plus account and you will need to pay BT for their Surftime Anytime scheme.

As of July, 2005 BT are no longer accepting new orders for Surftime.
