| There are some fifty demon.* newsgroups. Although
primarily for Demon customers, they are distributed worldwide. Each has a specific
purpose, described in the FAQ *** Which News Group? *** posted to demon.answers
and also available at ftp.demon.co.uk/pub/doc/general/whichgrp.faq Note that the ip in many Demon newsgroup names refers to Internet Protocol - i.e. the group is only about Internet matters. Find the right group and you are more likely to get well-informed answers. Don't post your question to several newsgroups "just in case"! The purpose of demon.ip.support.newuser is explained in the next section. Questions, complaints and even praise about the quality of Demon's service should be made in demon.service. If you want to have a good natter about any topic, use demon.local (but be sure to lurk for a while first: see section 2.6). For more detailed technical help on Internet matters, there are a number of platform-specific newsgroups, including:
Note that demon.ip.support is only for general support issues that can be answered without reference to specific software and that the win95 and ie4 groups also cover more recent versions of the relevant applications. If you have a question about your system which is not primarily to do with Internet support, then there are better newsgroups to try, including:
In all cases remember to read the newsgroup for a while before posting to it, so that you get an idea of what it is all about. |
