| Newsgroups provide a public forum for sharing ideas and
information. The discussions in most newsgroups are quickly distributed between computers
around the world, and so cannot be regarded as existing in just one central place (such as
the news server you use at Demon). Most newsgroups are open to anyone on the Internet and are uncensored. Be aware that some include material you might find highly offensive. In addition to the information on Newsgroups on the following pages, see also section 12 of this FAQ. Many newsgroups have a list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) which is posted regularly in the hope of dissuading new readers from asking questions which have been answered many times before. Always keep a lookout for these. Many newsgroup FAQs can be found at: Similarly, some newsgroups have a charter, setting out what the group is for and what types of post are acceptable. |
