http://www.demon.net/helpdesk/ Many email programs can receive email only by POP3 (see section 5.2 for details of the difference between POP3 and SMTP). If you want to use such software (or if you want to reconfigure Turnpike to receive email by POP3 instead of SMTP) the settings generally required are:

If you use Turnpike to connect, make sure that it is no longer set to receive mail from Demon by SMTP. You can collect mail for just one user at a time with POP3 by entering the User name in the form of either fred@hostname or fred+hostname. POP3 can be used to collect mail without dialling into Demon, such as when away from home or connected via another ISP. To do this, though, you must first set up a special POP3 password (see section 8.1) and then use that instead of your normal Demon dial-up password. |
