You can:
- Exchange electronic mail (email).
- Read and/or contribute messages (articles) to any one of some
50,000 newsgroups. These are referred to collectively as Usenet
and they cover almost every subject under the sun.
- Download software and other files using ftp (file transfer protocol).
- View pages of text and graphics (some including sounds, animations and video clips) from
the WWW (World-Wide Web).
- Have real-time multi-person 'conversations' by using IRC
(Internet Relay Chat) or WWW-based chat systems (see Part II).
In using these resources, you will encounter references to many more,
including the multi-user games, telnet, RealPlayer broadcasts, Net
phones and video conferencing mentioned in Part II of this FAQ].
