Although WWW browsers can download files from an FTP
site, proper FTP software (such as WS_FTP Pro) will give more control and will often be
faster. The settings needed are quite simple. In many cases, the only things you need to
specify are:
| Session Name |
(any name you like) e.g. Demon |
| Host Name |
(the site you want to go to) e.g. ftp.demon.co.uk |
| User Name |
anonymous (or ftp) |
| Password |
your email address |
It is useful to be able to set up these details of an ftp session off-line, prior
to connecting. If using Turnpike, in Connect go to Configure/Toolbar buttons and uncheck
the "Allow only if connected" box for ftp.
