username@host.demon.co.uk

• host is the name you were allocated by Demon, and is used to direct messages to your machine.
• username can be anything you like, so long as you have set up your own Internet software to accept mail for that name. You can use as many different email names as you like with a Demon account, giving you unlimited email addresses, e.g.

  fred@host.demon.co.uk
  jane@host.demon.co.uk
  news@host.demon.co.uk
  sales@host.demon.co.uk
  admin@host.demon.co.uk
  allthefamily@host.demon.co.uk   etc.

Note that your email address is not host@demon.co.uk. Nor does username have to be the same as host. The part after the @ sign (host.demon.co.uk) is referred to as your domain in Turnpike.

It is best to set up separate usernames so that you don't have to use your main email address(es) in public places such as Usenet or on the WWW - see section 12.
