Frequently Asked Questions by Demon Newusers
 About the authors
The advice given in this FAQ is of necessity generalised, so you follow it entirely at your own risk. Always back up valuable data! The details have been carefully checked, but the Internet develops at a rapid rate. If anything is inaccurate or becomes out of date, we apologise in advance and welcome corrections.

The authors (Paul Terry and John Hall) have no commercial interest in any of the products or services mentioned. Our motive for writing this FAQ is a shared fascination with the Internet, its traditions, its anarchy and its potential.

Chris Taylor had the original idea for the FAQ. She had a major hand in shaping its structure and coauthored it for its first three years. Our thanks go to the many posters to Demon news groups, who have helped focus our thinking, and particularly to Richard Clayton and Mike Mann for reviewing the original draft, Thomas Lee, and to all those who sent suggestions and comments.

We regret that we cannot give personal help by email - we, too, have jobs and private lives to maintain. However, you will doubtless see us in the newsgroup demon.ip.support.newuser where there are many who will try to help you with any questions that you care to post.
