Vinyl records
from soundgallery is one of those sites where a record fanatic
sells stuff. Too small to be a new CD stockist on its own, this
site co-operates with two or three collector databases, linking
a network of bargain basements together. |
| http://nutmeg.gen.nz
a personal page with great thoroughness & style, about sustainability,
language, politics of the international and interpersonal kinds
and a great many other things. The author says she is a bit of
a nerd, but so are all her favourite people; the site is more
like an art gallery though. |

Animal Sanctuaries Alliance. |
Earthfriendlyplanet.com
your online resource for eco-friendly products and soon to be
wholesale site for a magazine on the same subject. Stingent ethical
criteria do allow some less earth-friendly vegan firms, like
veganline.com, to be listed because of the difficulties of sourcing
all-recycled products. |

Dr.
Hadwen Trust for animal-free testing |
| Do you want to leaflet a street each month? Do
you go to demonstrations and fancy sharing a car? If there are
positive things you want to do for animals, then you don't even
need to join a society. Just look up some local activists from
the Animal Contacts
Directory and ask if they have any ideas. It's strange how
punks and little old ladies find things in common when they are
offering to do practical things. Pay a subscription if you want,
but don't be loyal - leave quickly if you are not comfortable
with the generation, people, ideology, emphasis, or the bus ride.
Keep your enthusiasm fresh for doing useful things, rather than
talking about differences or forcing yourself to be uncomfortable.
For example if you are a passionate egotist who can get people
to do things for you, set-up your own society: that's probably
how most of the existing ones started-up. |
